Our Missionaries
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Matthew 28:19-20
We are not all called to serve Christ the same way: some are called to share Jesus around the world, while others are called to serve locally. We provide support for an amazing team who faithfully serve Jesus both near and far.
Paul and Liz Bowman
-
Paul and Liz have enjoyed serving the Lord with TEAM since 1995 when they joined ministry teams focused on evangelism, discipleship, and leadership training in Bogota, Colombia and Tegucigalpa, Honduras. After eleven years of ministry in Central and South America investing in and equipping the body of Christ, the Lord redirected their steps to Madrid, Spain.
Paul and Liz currently live in Boadilla, a business professional suburb of Madrid where they share their hope in Jesus with their community—walking alongside atheists, agnostics, and those disillusioned with religion—prayerfully laying a foundation for the gospel by pointing to Christ in a post-modern, post-Christian society.
Paul served the greater TEAM family through the role of Ministry Area Leader in Spain for nine years before stepping into the Europe Regional Director position in November 2018. Paul and Liz pray their lives can prayerfully strengthen, equip, and empower TEAM personnel and ministries across Europe while they simultaneously invest in their local community and the Spanish church.

Katrina Custer

Black Forest Academy in Germany exists to support kingdom work around the globe. Nearly 85% of our student body, therefore, come from families in full-time ministry. As the Middle School Chaplain, my role is to support students holistically. I plan the weekly chapel for Grades 5-8 and oversee the Thursday night youth group night (we call it "Chrysalis"), which involves games, a talk usually given by me, and small group time led by High School seniors. In between those two weekly events, I'm available during the school day for mentoring and discipling, primarily in the form of conversations or mini bible studies over lunch or during study hall.

To learn more about the school, go to bfacademy.de or find them on social media. They also host a Podcast called “BFA Life.”
Black Forest Academy is also currently renovating a new school and accepting donations to further that mission.
To learn more about Katrina and her work, go to her WorldVenture page, which also hosts some blogs and articles I’ve written.
Sam and Jeanette Edelstein
-
We are Sam and Jeanette Edelstein, and we have three wonderful children; Karis, Simon, and Noah. We have served in Medellin, Colombia, for the last 15 years with the Navigators. We moved there with the vision and mission of the Navigators, 'to know Christ, make Him known, and help others do the same' We lived and loved among the Colombians, shared our lives, shared many meals and Bible studies, and prayed like crazy for God to take our scattered seeds and plant them in the hearts of our friends. We are grateful for the years in Colombia and all we got to experience God do, especially in our own lives. Through much council and prayer it became clear that without having teammates in Medellin, it was time for us to leave, so we have moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where we have dear, godly friends we would like to team up with to continue this great commission. We are currently taking a few months of a sabbatical; to regroup, help our kids adjust to life in the US, process our years in Colombia through God's light, and ask Him to lead us on what/how He is inviting us to serve here in Stillwater. This is a college town with a large international population, so we are excited about what God has for us here for the time being.

The Edelstein family is taking a well deserved sabbatical as they determine their next steps in their ministry for the Lord. In this season, they ask for intentional prayer as they rest and consider their next steps.

Stu and Cristina Grewatz

After 17 years planting churches in Mexico City, Stu & Cristina Grewatz moved to Puebla in 2014 to mobilize Mexico for missions. Their dream is to start a “brushfire” missions movement by helping Mexican missionary candidates get to the mission field, and equipping Mexican churches to send them to the least reached peoples--especially the Muslims where American missionaries are not welcome. In Puebla, they are coordinating mentoring groups and practical ministry for the resident students at the Puebla Bible Seminary.
The Summer Missionary Project is producing missionary candidates as they equip Mexican youth every July to do evangelistic 5-day clubs with children. They are promoting the “Impact 316” project to mobilize Mexico to send missionaries to more than 316 ethnic groups with no church, within Mexico and around the world.

I work as a traveling evangelist/apologist and trainer for InterVarsity’s Graduate and Faculty Ministries (GFM). I’m on the road at least a third of the time (sometimes more) to campuses around the country.
This means I show up, at say, Rice University (Houston), and hold a “Stump the Chump” session where students can come and ask any question they wish about Christianity. My job is to reply to their questions.
The next evening at Rice I did a public dialogue with a Muslim leader on the identity of Jesus. I also meet with individual students, such as atheist “Olivia” who had many questions.
And then I often do an evangelism training for Christian students and my fellow InterVarsity staff.
Fourthly at Rice, I did an evangelism training for Christian faculty on campus. And yes, we provide them with a free lunch – which greatly helps with attendance J)

Growing up in the same circumstances as many young people in Rakai today, due to the devastation by HIV/AIDS, we are led to walk alongside these boys and girls, supporting them physically, emotionally and spiritually not to be overwhelmed by the circumstances they find themselves in. By equipping them with the skills and values they need to exploit their full potential.
